A Piece of My Day

A Piece of Tuesday, 10 August 2010…

Yes, that is a kleenex box on my laptop.

So, last night, we ran out of kleenex in our bathroom, so I put out the new box and left the empty box on the counter to put into recycling this morning. This morning, while I was in the bathroom getting ready, I remembered a couple of bills I needed to pay, but I didn’t have the time right at that moment. In trying to figure out how I’d remember to do that task when I got home later, my eyes fell upon the empty kleenex box. I placed the kleenex box on top of my jewelry box so that when I was putting on my jewelry, I’d take the box out to the laptop, and later, when I saw the box I’d remember to pay the bills.

Are you still with me?

So, Hubby S and I were getting ready at about the same time. I was putting on my jewelry about the time he was going to let out the dog and since the back door is next to the desk (above photo), I asked him to put the kleenex box on my laptop for me. (To his credit, Hubby S didn’t even ask why…) There the box sat until I got home, looked at my laptop, paid the bills, and took a picture for the blog. It seemed like something to write about – surely I am not the only one who does such maneuvers in order to remember to pay two bills???

The ridiculous part of the whole thing is that I have what feels like about 6,000 different devices around my home which I could use to remind myself of such things as bill paying. I have a laptop which now syncs with my phone and vice versa. I’ve got all kinds of apps on my phone – including a virtual checklist which I’ve already downloaded. I’ve even got pads of paper and pencils around in various places of our home. But when you’re in the bathroom and need a reminder…hey, the kleenex box works just fine!

In the interest of full disclosure, I have to confess that the picture above was staged. When I took the original photo, I didn’t realize that the SD card wasn’t in the camera, so the picture saved to the camera’s memory. I couldn’t find the cord to link the camera to the laptop, so in the interest of saving my sanity, I retook the photo.

I will say that, as I was taking the second photo, I couldn’t help but feel that I was sinking to a new depth of ridiculousness. 🙂

Ah, well. That’s how it is sometimes.

Peace be upon your day!
